Neo-Renaissance architecture is a diverse group of 19th century buildings that were not Greek Revival or Gothic Revival and instead relied upon a variety of traditional cultural styles. These styles include Greek, Roman and Arabian architectural styles. But the one thing they have in common is the willingness to utilize the heavy, dark woods as the main material for their exterior structures. Neoclassicism is, on the other hand, is a style that blends modernist designs with more traditional, simpler ones. Neo-Renaissance architecture is most prominent in Italy but it was also responsible for numerous architectural designs which can be found in cities like Florence or Salzburg.
Sometimes the term “Neo-Renaissance” is used interchangeably with the term “historicism which was a popular style of architecture in Europe during the Renaissance. However, it actually developed its own style later. Historicism architecture employs numerous highly stylized ornaments, including works like the ceiling paintings of Verona or the columns of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. This style seeks to replicate the look and feel of a historic or landmark site, rather than a modern city. Historicism architecture is more precise than Neo-Renaissance. It relies on a uniform construction and solid measurements.
Neo-Renaissance architecture is a large part of current Italian architecture. It can mostly be found in the classicalist architectural style. The neo Renaissance has had a major influence on Italian art and architecture. This is in part because of the influence of artists like Michelangelo who saw the architecture as an idealized version of classical Italy. The most famous works of this style are the Vitruvian Man and the Fountain of Assissi.

Like the neo-renaissance design, the architectural revival architecture of the first half of the nineteenth century brought many new ideas to Italian designs. One example of this type of architecture can be seen in the cathedrals of Venice.
The styles influenced by the neo-renaissance included an abundance of styles. A lot of these styles utilized different colors such as yellow, red, and black. The use of heavy, dark blocks is among the most striking aspects of Renaissance structures. This contrasts with the airy, lighter appearance of most buildings of the neo-classical age.
Neo-Renaissance architecture gets its most significant influence from the rebuilding of structures destroyed during the infamous “Dreyfuss Fire”. Many works of art were destroyed in the fire. Many of the artists who were original used the fire as a source of inspiration for their Renaissance inspired works. In actuality, many of the modern-day masters of construction use elements of the neo-renevency style of architecture to create their masterpieces. For example, Frank Lloyd Wright is believed to have incorporated elements from the noble houses when designing his famous buildings.
A smaller number buildings still retain traces of the neoliberal era. Two of the most well-known examples are the Louvre in Paris and the Vatican Church in Rome. Many buildings bearing evidence of the neo-renaissance style have survived to this day. The most well-known examples are those found in cathedrals and palaces. They aren’t as popular as mansions and stately homes built during France’s neo-renaissance era.
There are a great number of buildings with traces of the neo-renaissance and there are still many existing structures dating back to the same time period. The French neo Renaissance architecture is more attractive than the English Renaissance. They include spires, basilicas and towers. The scale and design of the architecture are larger than the ones found in the traditional English style. They may also have gardens or a park as part of their principal building.
